Compton’s BUDDY on being the son of a preacher

Compton’s Buddy has been putting out great music from the very beginning, starting with mixtape ‘Idle Time’ in 2014, then following up with EPs ‘Oceans & Montana’ and ‘Magnolia’, produced by Kaytranada and Mike & Keys respectively. He clarifies his early relationship with Pharrell, including the fact his first tape had been sitting on the shelf for a while and needed dropping quickly (without the approval of iamOTHER), hence going over a lot of people’s heads.

He talks about his dad who is a preacher being his biggest influence as a (spiritual) artist. Currently recording his album, Buddy is working on connecting with everybody, bouncing between different vibes and speaking on real topics. I did suggest he blesses us with an EP entirely produced by Cardo Got Wings and DJ Dahi and of course another track with Kendrick Lamar.
