The Atlanta boys EarthGang were back in town with the same vibrant energy they came with back when they supported J. Cole during the ‘4 Your Eyez Only’ tour. We uncovered their love for Harry Potter which led to conversations about their multi-layered, experimental material, such as the Mirrorland short cartoon visual they just dropped in the lead up to the same titled album. And in identifying the different flavours within their musical buffet, the topic somehow converted to food and British chicken was hilariously labelled “pheasant” by WowGr8 (formerly Doc), compared to the real stuff found in the Southern regions of the US! I would beg to differ, but anyhow.
Johnny Venus takes us to “church” preaching the good word on women, and how much he often cannot tolerate how the female is represented in the culture, inspiring their latest song ‘Proud of U’. And speaking of ‘Church’, which is in fact the title of their previous release with Sam Henshaww, we get into Yeezus talk and thoughts on his “Sunday Service”.
